I hope you do drop in at the Dew Drop Inn, a bar located at 2801 8th Street NE in Edgewood. This is a really cool place because it has the feel of a small-town hangout in the middle of the city. It is located right next to the main railroad tracks that head north from Union Station, and doesn’t look like much from the outside. It is inside a stone, industrial building that used to be housed by stonemasons and metal workers. Its owners (who also own Wonderland Ballroom) fortunately saw the potential of a space like this. The interior has retro decorations and is very cozy; it would be a great place to walk into on a cold winter night. There is also a really nice outdoor deck where you can sit and watch the trains go by; for train lovers like me, there is even a counter that faces the tracks, so you can sip a beer while watching the commuters go by. I would much rather be sipping a beer. The menu is fairly basic (but not in a bad way- it’s typical bar food) and I confess that I haven’t tried their food yet. This place is a winner on atmosphere alone, though. It’s a real getaway from the rest of the city.
